Over 50 years ago in Kerman, Iran, my parents cared for a modest date farm. As a child, I spent summers studying my father's devotion to the care of these unassuming fruits. He would share stories of our Persian heritage while often reciting a timely poem by Rūmī. 

 

The date has been a symbol of love and nourishment for my family, and so they thought what better partner to the hardy date, than the succulent fig? Both rich in antioxidants and nutrients; known by generations as sources of health and vitality.

 

The recipe behind Fig + Date has been passed down and refined by modern influence but it's remained tasty and nutritious as ever.
